Biola StartUp Competition
I joined the Biola Start-Up Competition to better understand what it is like to be apart of a start-up. My team and I worked to develop our product and to establish a business plan. We also created a pitch and presented to a panel of business professionals. While I joined the team to help wherever needed, I ended up stepping in to lead the team when the other leader had to step out for health reasons. We faced a lot of challenges and pressure and even considered dropping out of the competition. However, I encouraged the team to continue and we re-grouped. Despite the challenges faced everything came together in time to pitch our idea to the judges. I was so proud to see the team and how we were able to over come obstacle to complete this project. The cherry on top was winning the Wayfare award. Through this project I learned perseverance, even when things get difficult. I also grew as I learned more about how I work under pressure and about working with others in pressure. Through this project, I also learned how to write a business plan, and the key elements involved. As we presented out plan I grew in my presentation skills and in my ability to answer question on the spot.

Target Market Project
I had the opportunity to perform a marketing research project on the farm to table restaurant industry, an industry that I am personally interested in. I researched the industry for several weeks and then looked in depth at two local restaurants. Through employee and customer interviews, I worked to determine what customers desired and proceeded to conduct large-scale SWOT analyses of the two companies. Through this project I learned how to communicate with customers to best understand their needs and desires and gained an understanding of the farm to table industry. I was able to develop skills of finding and organizing data and forming conclusions based on my analysis of that data – and then I was able to creatively form a new company founded on marketing related solutions to those problems.

Foodstirs Chocolate Cake Recipe
As an intern at Foodstirs I spent most of my time connecting with influencers on Instagram and handling operations projects. However, I also had the opportunity to put my love of recipe development to work, and to create recipes using their products. Check out the recipe I created for Organic Molten Lava Cake.
